Publish a list of the games the school will shoot in a given season so parents will know which games will be covered. |
Let parents borrow a school camera (or volunteer to use their own) to shoot a game or two on the school's behalf. |
Take one album of each team each season. If each team or sport has its own webpage, link to the shortQueue gallery from each page. |
Encourage the parents whose son or daughter serves as a captain of a team to purchase prints of all the images of that team. The parents can then put the prints into an album, and give the album to the son or daughter as a gift to commemorate the season. |
Take lots of group shots. |
Take a first-day of school shot of each lower school class and a last-day of school shot of each class (same kids in the same position as on the first day). |
Let each lower-school teacher have a camera for one day each month to shoot pictures of class activities. Then put out albums of each teacher's class each month. This guarantees that each lower school student is covered at least one time each month. |
Take lots of shots of Grandparents Day and all other family-related, on-campus gatherings. |
Take lots of shots of field trips and overnights (especially since parents don't generally chaperone as much as they do in lower school). |
Since this is the first time middle schoolers can represent the school athletically, cover as many athletic events as possible. |
Take shots of lunch. Capture just how much food they put on their tray. |
Get all the kids with braces together in the gym. Take one picture with their mouths closed and another picture with their mouths wide open, braces in full display. |
Take shots in between classes with the halls full of people. |
Get shots of upper schoolers as they arrive and leave school. |
Take some shots of the seniors -- in their cars in the senior parking lot. |
Cover the big events: graduation, awards presentations, athletic scholarship signing day, etc. |
Take backstage shots of all major productions. |
Take candid shots of warm-ups and rehearsals (dress or otherwise). |
Encourage student photographers to take campus shots and display their work in the gallery. |
Create a student album comprised of all shots taken by students. |
