The shortQueue program is no different from any other program a school would undertake: parents and students need to know the program is available. The following are samples of how some of our schools are introducing the shortQueue program to their parents:
Photo Gallery Introduction | Photo Gallery Flyer | Photo Gallery Postcard | Setting Parent Expectations
| 1. |
|
Funnel all images through a central point of contact -- be that the head of Communications or Alumni, the Yearbook Advisor, or maybe a faculty member interested in photography |
| 2. |
|
Establish one point of contact for each division (Upper, Middle, Lower) or administrative unit (Alumni, Communications, etc.) |
| 3. |
|
Fold all the images taken on campus into the shortQueue program (including those taken by the professional photographer with whom the school has had a long-standing relationship) or segregate the images based on who took them (but remember, only the images that are part of the shortQueue gallery are archived) |
| 4. |
|
If there's only one point of contact, consider compensating that person with some percentage of the revenue that is generated through the program, consider it a stipend along the lines of coaching a sport |
| 5. |
|
Compensate the professional photographer with some percentage of the proceeds, but absolutely insist on maintaining the rights to the images that he or she took |
| 6. |
|
Allow the Parents Council or the Booster Club to run with the program and hand over the proceeds to their respective organizations |
Though the shortQueue program is a wonderful service the school can provide to the larger school community, its impact hinges on how well the school continues to market the service. Whether its athletic, lower school, middle school, upper school, or fine arts, see below for some fun internal marketing ideas:

Following are sample "Photo Release Forms" that many schools are using for all endeavors involving digital imagery. If you would like to download and customize one of these forms for your school, please feel free.
