In 1924, Duke University's founder, James B. Duke, instructed the university community to pursue scholarship that would "most help to develop our resources, increase our wisdom and promote human happiness." That instruction is being met today through Duke University's nine schools and colleges and by its many interdisciplinary initiatives.
According to Duke University President Nannerl O. Keohane, Duke's "fine sense of tradition balances a playful sense of fun." Both that tradition and fun are evident in Duke's photo gallery. These shots, taken by Duke University Photography and brought to you by the Office of the Alumni Affairs, bear that out.
